Comment 미국 메이저리그 소속의 프로야구팀으로 1871년에 창단하였다.

미국 메이저리그 내셔널리그 동부지구에 소속된 프로야구팀으로, 1876년 창단하였다. 연고지는 조지아주(州) 애틀랜타이며, 원래는 보스턴을 연고지로 하여 보스턴 레드 스타킹스라는 팀명으로 창단하였다.

1871년 보스턴 레드스타킹스(Boston Red Stockings)로 창단한 뒤 1876년 보스턴 레드캡스(Boston Red Caps), 1883년 보스턴 비니터스(Boston Beaneaters), 1907년 보스턴 도브스(Boston Doves), 1911년 보스턴 러슬러스(Boston Rustlers), 1912년 보스턴 브레이브스(Boston Braves), 1936년 보스턴 비스(Boston Bees)를 거쳐 1941년 다시 보스턴 브레이브스로 팀명을 환원하였다. 1953년 밀워키로 연고지를 옮기면서 팀명을 밀워키 브레이브스(Milwaukee Braves)로 하였다가 1966년 연고지를 애틀랜타로 옮기면서 지금의 팀명을 사용하고 있다. 팀명의 브레이브스(Braves)는 '용감한 사람들'이라는 뜻으로, 1912년 당시 구단주인 조니 워드(Johnny Ward)가 제안하여 결정되었다.
